Situated in the heart of the Amish country, just 15 miles east of Lancaster, Pennsylvania, Honey Brook is home to Menagerie Farm Alpacas. Our first encounter with alpacas happened in March of 2000. With the expansion of Joe’s mechanical contracting business, we had just purchased 10.5 acres with plans of building a new house, a shop for Joe’s business and starting a little farm of our own. Having been raised on a 240 acre dairy farm, my husband wanted something smaller, easier and just fun to have on our farm. |

After seeing a show on TV about alpacas, our interest was piqued. Two weeks later a newspaper ad led us to an alpaca show in Lebanon, PA. We went with the intention of just “looking”. Well, one look and we were hooked. We bought two juvenile Huacaya pet males that we instantly fell in love with. |

We set about doing our research and learning the “ins” and “outs” of raising alpacas and decided that this was the “something” we had been looking for. |
|
Now, several years, a few barns more, and twenty -some alpacas later, the fascination still continues. |
